Historical Note:
The Roosevelt Dime was introduced in 1946 to honor President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a major advocate for the March of Dimes. In 1955, the U.S. Mint produced fewer than 400,000 proof sets, making this one of the lower-mintage silver proof years.
Many surviving examples exhibit toning due to long-term storage in cellophane or paper envelopes. Collectors prize such pieces for their originality and eye appeal, especially when the color adds character without obscuring detail.
