Historical Note:
Introduced in 1921 following the end of World War I, the Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony de Francisci to symbolize the nation's desire for peace. Lady Liberty appears on the obverse, while the reverse depicts a bald eagle at rest above the word “PEACE.” The series was struck from 1921 through 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935, making it the final circulating U.S. silver dollar design of the classic 90% silver era.
